Welcome to the CMCS Vocal Arts Program

My name is Nicholas Shelton, and I am the Vocal Director for the secondary campus here at CMCS.  We have a successful and quickly growing program with several performance options for both, High School and Junior High students.  High School performance groups include the Concert Choir (our non-auditioned large group), the highly select mixed-voice Chamber Ensemble, and the select Treble Ensemble for developing female voices.  Our Junior Chorale is a year-long elective option for Junior High singers to gain valuable vocal and technical musical experience. 

In addition to our choral ensembles, we offer two additional courses for those students who plan to pursue vocal education at the undergraduate level and beyond.  Our first course, Intro to Vocal Technique/Basic Musicianship, is designed for any student interested in developing an understanding of healthy vocal technique as well as basic musical notation.  Our second option, Music Theory & History, is designed to prepare students who plan on becoming music majors to be immediate contributors to their college music programs, and to bypass their freshman year Music Theory and History courses.
